Misano Adriatico, 5 June 2017 – It was a weekend of highs and lows for Ferrari customer teams at Misano Adriatico, with four victories, but it was also a less than perfect weekend for Super GT3 class crews.
Saturday. The first races in the various categories took place on Saturday. In the Super GT3 class Stefano Gai, driving alone in the 488 GT3 of Black Bull Swiss Racing with Mirko Venturia out due to a physical problem, obtained pole position but the Italian driver had to offset a 30 second penalty for winning the last races at Imola and thus dropped into sixth after refuelling at the midway point. The race was won by the Lamborghini of Antonelli Motorsport crewed by Daniel Zampieri and Riccardo Agostini. Ferrari enjoyed success in the other classes, with a victory in the GT3 category for the 458 Italia GT3 of MP1 Corse driven by Nicola Benucci and Simone Niboli, and a third place for the same car of Easy Race with Francesco La Mazza and Marco Magli at the wheel. Ferrari also triumphed in the GT-Cup class thanks to Leonardo Baccarelli and Luigi Ferrara with the 458 Italia of the Baccarelli team.
Sunday. In Race-2 on Sunday Gai had even less success in the Super GT3 class while Eddie Cheever III and Matteo Malucelli came second in the 488 GT3 of Scuderia Baldini 27, behind the Lamborghini of Ombra team driven by Alex Frassineti and Michele Beretta who now top the championship standings. The 458 Italia GT3 of MP1 Corse triumphed again in the GT3 class, with Nicola Benucci and Simone Niboli. The 458 Italia of Baccarelli and Ferrara also won again in the GT-Cup class. The next round is in Monza from 16 to 18 June.
