Lexington, July 27 – The Pirelli World Challenge series returns to action this weekend, with two Ferrari 488 GT3s set to compete at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car course.
Mid-Ohio is one of North America’s classic road racing circuits. Set in the rolling hills of central Ohio, the 2.2-mile circuit has hosted major sports car racing since it opened in 1962. Although it has been upgraded extensively, the circuit It has retained the character of a traditional racing circuit.
The first of two Ferrari 488s that will take the green flag at Mid-Ohio is the no. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 driven by Daniel Mancinelli. In his first season in PWC, Mancinelli occupies fifth in the Sprint X Pro championship and fourth in the overall championship, and finished fourth in both races at the previous round at Road America.
After missing the last two PWC rounds, the no. 61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 will return to the track. The Ferrari will now be driven by Canadian Kyle Marcelli, who formed part of the team’s lineup that nearly won the Sprint-X round at Virginia International Raceway.
The first race of the weekend, held Saturday, July 29 will be streamed live at 4:35 PM ET on world-challenge.com. The second race, held Sunday, July 30 will be broadcast at 2:00 PM ET on CBS Sports Network.
